Phew, that felt good to get that off our chest 😅
Our latest and greatest version of Shortcuts has a lot of amazing newness to rave about including:
- A brand new look and feel
- ShortcutsPay integrated terminal
- A quick and intuitive rescheduling tool (perfect for lockdown)
- And a quick and easy client search tool
In fact, it’s been a while since we’ve done an update this big, so there’s some significant changes that may feel a little daunting at first.
We promise you will LOVE Shortcuts 8.1 once the initial shock of the change passes just like our friends over at Urban Retreat.

New intuitive look and feel inspired by Google
Shortcuts 8.1 has a brand new look that will feel very different from the old Shortcuts. We made these changes to modernise the look of Shortcuts with a simple light and dark theme, and pops of teal as the highlight colour rather than having multiple colour schemes.
We used familiar design principles from the likes of Google to create the look and feel of this new version, so that the placement of buttons and menus felt intuitive and much like other popular technology tools you’ve used before.
As with every tech tool that inevitably upgrades their look, we thought it was prime time to make the change! While it may feel *dramatic*at first, know you will love it and the old version’s look will be long lost and forgotten!
Integrated terminal payments
You know when you go to a café, order your caramel half-strength flat-white on almond… extra hot, and instead of the waiter keying in $5.50 to the eftpos terminal, it just magically appears? You tap to pay, and on your merry way you go. What a smooth experience huh?
Well it’s time to bring that same experience to your salon! 😉
We’ve launched ShortcutsPay integrated terminal – which is only compatible with Shortcuts 8.1. ShortcutsPay Integrated Terminal is an easy-to-use payments solution that makes in-salon payments a breeze and lets you manage all your clients’ payments from within the Shortcuts platform.

Shortcuts 8.1 can help you reschedule your appointments quick smart, so you can act as soon as restrictions change (and we know they can change daily).

Quick and easy client search
We’ve improved the way you search for clients in Shortcuts to make it so much easier and heck of a lot quicker too! Now when you go to search for a client, the client list will only appear once you start searching for a specific client. You can start by searching their name, phone number or email directly within the search box, helping to reduce admin and booking errors.
To keep client search results relevant and precise, it will now only search from the beginning of a client’s name. For example, searching “Ann” will return Anna, Ann, Anne, Ann-Marie, but not Joanna or Hannah.
We have also included a range of new visual enhancements, which includes buttons for the client’s profile card as well as their visit history – all designed to make your life a million times easier.
