Meet the newest member of the Shorties team; our Queensland Sales Manager, Bianca! You can find Bianca hitting the road visiting salons, spas and barbershops right across the state. To help you get to know her, we sat down with Bianca to chat about her time in the industry and find out what she loves about Shortcuts.
How long were you hairdressing?
I’ve been hairdressing for 17 years, working everywhere from Brisbane to Ireland, Wales and even on a cruise ship sailing around Alaska! I loved every minute of it, with the exception of the cruise ship which I was tempted to abandon but unfortunately I was in the middle of the Arctic.
What’s the craziest thing that happened in the salon?
Oh wow… there were many! I think I would have to go back to my apprentice days. It was actually our senior who decided to put a drop of blue black colour into a toner. The client’s hair was white so the colour turned it navy! This client was so pedantic; she would have flipped if she found out so we kept her away from the mirror while we madly tried to fix it. Eventually we figured it out and she walked out with a beautiful colour!
What are your favourite Shortcuts features?
Where do I start… I actually have a couple!
- All day long people ask me about Online Booking and honestly, I can’t recommend it enough! In 2018, if you don’t have this tool in your business you are literally throwing money away. Your clients are busy, so why not give them the opportunity to book how and when they want? You can set this up however you like to suit your business and add booking links to your website, Facebook and even Instagram. All you have to do is sit back and watch the bookings roll in.
- I also love Set & Forget Marketing. As far as I’m concerned this is one of our greatest features. For busy salon owners, this is a no-brainer if you want to keep existing clients on the hook and drum up new business without lifting a finger. Every aspect of this feature is customisable, so you decide who you want to speak to and when. You could set aside a few hours on a slow day in January and not have to worry about your email marketing for the rest of the year.
- Another feature I’m obsessed with is Customised Forms. Again, this is all about flexibility. This feature lets you collect information from your clients using an iPad or tablet. You can either fill out the form yourself or give to your clients to do from the comfort of the chair or treatment room. The information will then instantly sync with the client record in your salon computer!
What do you love about the industry?
I love how we make people feel. Someone can be having the worst day of their life but the moment they step through the door and sit in that chair it’s all about them. There’s such a special relationship between clients and stylists, beauty therapists, barbers, they feel like they can tell you everything, and they often do! If I had a dollar for every secret that was shared with me…
How can Shortcuts help business owners?
I guess I’m lucky that I’ve been on both sides of the fence. I know what pressures business owners face and I know what features Shortcuts has to help make their lives easier.
