Why do I need a listing on mylocalsalon™?

Will my customers be contacted by mylocalsalon™?

When you sign up to mylocalsalon™ and accept the Terms and Conditions as part of participating in the site, you give permission for Shortcuts mylocalsalon™ to contact clients who have recently had a service at your business, for the purpose of reviewing your business.

Our automated system sends out an email which asks your clients to rate their experience with you on five criteria, and also gives them the option to leave a comment. mylocalsalon™ will only ever contact your clients on your behalf as outlined above, unless they have signed up for the mylocalsalon™ specials communications, in which case they will be emailed directly.

How secure is my data?

The Shortcuts online booking system is extremely secure. Security certificates are in place to protect spas and salons, and their clients’ data. The connection between Shortcuts’ online booking server and the salon’s database is protected by an SSL certificate. This is the same security measures used in online banking applications.

How are ratings collected?

When a transaction is completed at the point of sale, mylocalsalon™ automatically contacts the client by email and/or text, (depending on which method the salon has chosen) and asks them to complete a short five-question survey (with the option to write an additional review comment).

Who receives the request for ratings email or SMS?

The request for ratings emails (and text messages) are initially sent to all clients who have visited a salon in the last 12 weeks. This initial blast fast tracks the population of ratings, and they are published to your profile page. On an ongoing basis, a request for ratings email is sent to each client after they visit your business.

If there is a negative comment and I know it isn’t genuine can I have it removed?

Yes, a comment can be removed - request this from Shortcuts directly. As mylocalsalon™ is a valuable service to consumers it is important that we keep the feedback true, therefore we adhere to a policy that restricts a maximum of 3 comments removed every 6 months only.

How often do the specials emails go out and which salons get listed on these emails?

Once a week, mylocalsalon™ sends out state-based specials emails to anyone who has subscribed to receive them. Each specials email contains a featured special for each State. The mylocalsalon editorial team features the most appealing specials each week. Speak to your Shortcuts Consultant if you would like your special to be featured.

What features are on the iphone app?

The iPhone application has the same functionality as the mylocalsalon website including all search and filtering functionality, salon profile pages (including photos), ratings and reviews. In addition, the iPhone application has the capability of knowing where the user is, based on iPhone’s GPS technology, helping them to locate salons in the immediate vicinity. The specials feature will be deployed on the iPhone application in the near future. Watch this space!
