Like Father...
A native of France, Laurent Dufourg started his impressive career at the age
of 16 serving an apprenticeship with the world famous Claude Maxime in Paris.
Within a short time he owned the two most exclusive salons on Costa del Sol,
Spain, the playground for the rich and famous.
In 1979, Laurent spread his wings and partnered with Jose Eber in Los Angeles
opening five highly successful salons. With an unerring sense of how to unlock
an individual’s most beautiful and confident self, Laurent’s
talent is expressed in his innate ability to cut and style hair to perfectly
suit
the look, personality and lifestyle of his clients. While acknowledged as
a trailblazer of new looks and styles, he also seeks the best interpretation
of the latest trends for his clients.
His own particular techniques – working fast with incredible hands resulting
in cuts that are soft, sexy and infinitely flattering – have garnered
Laurent an impressive list of celebrity clients including Gwyneth Paltrow,
Elisabeth Shue, Uma Thurman, Denise Richards, Tea Leoni, Ashley Judd, Salma
Hayek, Teri Hatcher, Shannen Doherty, Jewel, Debra Messing, Paulina Rubio,
Diane Lane and Sophia Loren, among others.
Like Son….
Chelby, being in the beauty industry his whole life, found himself working
in a hair salon at a very young age and he quickly developed the trade skills
that have led to his own success and achievements. While Chelby has his own
sense of style and skills, the shared qualities between Laurent and Chelby
are in their approach to business: clients first. Each individual client leaves
transformed and with a new air of confidence.
Chelby and his partner in crime and wife, Simone Dufourg, have
recently created Next Level Salons: a full service salon consulting firm
that helps salons create
more profits, cut costs, and expand their visibility thru marketing and management
plans. Next Level Salons represents some of the nation’s most exclusive
hair salons and is of course responsible for licensing and branding management
of Privé Salon. Having also worked with several high profile marketing
and promotion companies, Chelby has a strong background in marketing and
a well-rounded skill set being successful both behind the chair and in the
office.
Father AND Son
1995 was the transforming year for both Laurent and Chelby when Laurent
sold his share of Jose Eber to open Privé (French for private)
with the help of his son. First there was West Hollywood then there
was Soho Grand
Hotel in New York and most recently Orlando, FL.
Working side by side the two meticulously planned the staffing,
marketing & management
of each salon. This business plan included adding Shortcuts in the Orlando
location. A client since March 2006, Orlando has been a happier place since.
The stylists that make up the Privé Salon family have
been hand picked, to ensure that each technician had refined artistic ability,
personality
and a certain savoir faire. These rigorous standards guarantee salon personnel
are the best trained and most talented in the business.
In June 2001, Laurent and Chelby debuted the new Privé Formule
Aux Herbes haircare collection, which includes 21 new products for styling,
finishing,
cleansing, conditioning and treating hair. Each product contains fragrances
and individualized herbal blends specifically developed by Laurent himself.
Chelby took the business reigns with his strong business background. This
sophisticated collection is available at fine salons nationwide, and has
already received
extensive coverage in leading fashion and lifestyle magazines.
Extended Family
Privé has not only taken the hair and beauty world by storm, they are
among the most active in communities. In one year, they have contributed significantly
to the research for various cancer foundations. In April they created a product
that helps to raise funds for the Expedition Inspiration for Breast Cancer
Research, in May they teamed up with Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salon for the
Chemotherapy Foundation’s 26th Annual Spring Luncheon, and in October
they hosted a Breast Cancer Awareness Month Fundraiser. A significant effort
for a significant company.
