Sejour to makeover

The style of London hair salons is set to change forever with the opening of Sejour.

Driven by the passion of two of the industry’s brightest stars, Sejour is now open in Chelsea’s Bray Place in London. Stylist Terry Bishop and colourist Carl Dawson have created a totally unique concept, blending lavish and sensuous surroundings with impeccable service and expertise to create a temple of indulgence with contemporary relevance.

Bishop and Dawson, former protégés of the legendry Nicky Clarke, understand time is of the essence to their clients and believe the salon experience must reflect this. They have carefully considered the way consumers choose to invest their valuable time and money on personal treats such as boutique hotels, luxury spas, private clubs and the best restaurants, and have taken these qualities to create Sejour.

Nestled within a 19th Century pied á terre, and exquisitely designed by acclaimed interior designer Tara Bernerd, Sejour provides a luxurious haven in the city's heart. Silk kimonos, orchids, roses and scented candles create an atmosphere of tranquility; complemented by the Sejour DJ who plays carefully selected tracks to complement the environment. An in-house chef is on-hand with a special detox menu and an array of decadent cocktails, plus a special "zone" is dedicated to total relaxation, promising to prolong the pleasure.

As part of its commitment to catering for its clients' busy lifestyles, Sejour offers extended opening hours; and for the times when a trip to the salon is impractical, the on-call service will bring the Sejour experience to the home or office. Both Bishop and Dawson have unbelievably impressive resumes! Dawson has worked on advertising campaigns for Maybelline and on film sets for movies such as Sliding Doors and the old favourite, A Fish Called Wanda.

Bishop has styled the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson's hair on numerous occasions as well as being a personal hairstylist to members of the Saudi Arabian Royal Family. They both developed their hairdressing dreams in their early teens and made their way to the top with a combination of hard work, passion and a little bit of luck on their side! Bishop and Dawson have hand-picked their team from some of the industry's most promising talents, including Marina Sandoval, make up artist to the stars, consults on image and beauty. Collectively, they have unparalleled experience on film sets and fashion shoots and boast a list of private clients ranging from royals to pop stars, socialites to supermodels.

"The time is right for an alternative to today's tired and impersonal salon formula", points out Bishop. "But however we've been able to improve the experience, it still all comes down to great styling and colouring."

Dawson agrees, "We simply want to make women happy and feel good about their hair - and we expect their friends to feel jealous after they've been to see us!"
