Book appointments using Facebook!

Brisbane based company Shortcuts Software launches the world’s first booking application on Facebook this week for salons and spas.

The online Facebook booking application is a world first and is specifically targeted to salons and spas which do not have a website but would like to have an online presence.

Shortcuts Software CEO Rebecca Randle said a number of clients want to use the internet for online bookings but are unable to because they do not have a website.

“The Shortcuts BookME™ feature is the most powerful and efficient online booking software but some of our clients, like small businesses, are unable to access it because they do not have a website,” Mrs Randle said.

“An online booking application on Facebook gives all our clients an opportunity to have an online presence without having to spend time and money to develop a website for a company.

“The BookME™ application on Facebook is great because customers make a booking straight to the actual appointment book rather than a request based system, which improves efficiency for the company and the customer,” Mrs Randle said.

Queensland University of Technology Lecturer Dr Edwina Luck said a Facebook booking application would be an effective communication tool which would benefit a business.

“The application is a wonderful concept because salon clients can make an appointment outside retail hours making themselves more available to clients and more customer centric,” Dr Luck said.

“With e-word of mouth we trust our friends more than we trust advertising, so not only is it a credible marketing communication tool but convenient for the customer to book an appointment.

“A Facebook booking application means you’re connecting with your clients as well as connecting with clients’ friends 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” Dr Luck said.

The application on Facebook is now available for companies to apply to their Facebook fan page.
