Shortcuts Software attends fundraiser event for breast cancer research

October 21 2009 – Long Beach, CA – Shortcuts Software attended the third annual Pink Gala held by Elite Salon Systems on October 3rd 2009 in Orlando, Florida. The event focused on the awareness of breast cancer, in loving memory of Elite Salon Systems founder, Linda Martens.

Shortcuts donated a software and online marketing package of a total value of $4,649 as a prize for the silent auction at the event. The package included a full Shortcuts software system, start-up training, a 12 month online marketing package and a full case study published in the Shortcuts’ Evolve Magazine which is distributed globally.

In addition to the event, Shortcuts is raising money to increase the donation for Elite Salon Systems through the Shortcuts Luvs Boobies campaign. Shortcuts is donating five cents for every dollar spent at Shortcuts to Elite Salon Systems, who will donate the proceeds to research for a cure from October 1st - October 31st 2009.

“Shortcuts hopes to raise awareness of the cause and raise money to support research, especially during breast cancer awareness month,” said Paul Tate, CEO for Shortcuts North America. “As a long-time partner with Elite Salon Systems, we all feel that we are all personally attached to the cause in memory of Linda Martens.”

“Since our inception in 1981, our founder and my mother, Linda Martens, created the foundation of Elite Salon Systems around supporting community and charity causes,” said Sherri Martens, President of Elite Salon Systems. “After losing her battle with breast cancer in 2006, I began a crusade, in her honor, to try and end breast cancer forever by raising money for breast cancer research. My goal has been to bring breast cancer awareness to the forefront in the beauty industry which is dominated by women. I began this grass roots campaign and it is with great pride that I join forces with Shortcuts to expand my crusade.”

“Hopefully, we can see breast cancer become a non-life threatening disease within my life-time,” said Martens. “My main purpose for fundraising is to save at least one woman from the pain my mother endured along with educating as many women as possible on the importance of early detection through annual screening for this world-wide epidemic that currently affects 1 in 7 women.”
